I have installed these lights on two bikes. One I use to ride around town and one I reserve for the deserts of burning man. These lights are unbelievably bright and I get compliments all the time. They even glowed brightly when covered with playa dust unlike the expensive El Wire I previously tried out. Once installed the lights are very durable as long as you are careful not to mess with the fragile copper wire that wraps around your spokes. But if you install it snugly the first time the lights tend to last a long long time. Both of my bikes have had the lights installed for 3 years without any issues while riding. It is important to note that the light strand is only 24 inches and is made for a 24 inch wheel like what you would find on a child's bicycle but most adult bikes have 26 inch wheels. This actually works out perfectly because the two inch gap is where you can put your bicycle lock/chain through your wheel hub and not risk damaging the light wire.So here is what you need to do to make this work for you. First you mount the curved bottom of the battery pack to the center of your hub and really pull down on the zip ties to get it snug to the hub. Then carefully cut the extra length off the zip ties. Then start carefully winding the light wire around a spoke and do a tight wind and pinch it to the bottom of the spoke where it goes into the wheel. Then go to the next spoke, do one complete wind around the bottom of the spoke and pinch, continue on to you have gone all the way around the wheel. DO NOT TRY TO UNWIND THE WIRE ONCE YOU HAVE PLACED IT. This is a very fragile single copper wire and just the metal fatigue from the first twist is enough to weaken it. It will likely break if you try to reposition it. This is what happened the first time I tried to install this and I returned it to Amazon who replaced it. But I have done the installation 4 times since then with no mishaps.Once installed it seems to be very durable. I think the secret is to have it wrapped tightly around the base of the spokes and close to the wheel. This keeps the wire away from road hazards that might snap the wire. The batteries are easy to replace. The waterproof cylinder that holds the batteries has a screw cap that you unscrew. You pull out the center cartridge that holds all the batteries and just replace them then return it to the cylinder and screw the cap back on. If the lights start to appear dim you probably just need new batteries. As for the review that said that the lights went out while riding the bicycle, that has never happened on any of my 4 installations. I suspect that there is an issue with the batteries or the contacts or connections in the battery cylinder. I would simply return it to Amazon as defective if playing with the batteries doesn't fix the problem. There are other setups for bicycle lights but for the money this is awesome. The other lighting systems were considerably more expensive.not very bump resistant, they just go out if you ride over rough pavement or gravel.would prefer the case hold two, or four AA batteries... who sells batteries in sets of three? But they are bright and pretty. Keep an eye on the cable. where it runs up a spoke to the battery to be sure it stays clear of your brakes... haven't had any issues, but the case swivels around the hub a little each time I ride, and that cable can pick up some slack. I may have to reinstall with this in mind.We are always being asked where we got these lights! We have used them for many happy night rides.2 or 3 separate times police officers in our downtown area have commented that they wish everyone used these, they'd have fewer car vs bicycle accidents. No tickets for us!! (My brother was hit by a car 2 years ago and we ordered these right after that, this is actually our second set.)The battery pack balances nicely on the axle, the lights are bright, and we rarely have to change batteries. So, yeah - we're fans.Works good. Haven't had to worry about being water proof yet. The only problem I had was the zip ties broke when trying to make them tight, and the battery pack moves, even with new zip ties pulled tightWires need to be longer but other then that, and a little bit of wierdness in the whell since its spining the battery part, it works greatworks great.son has to take them off for school, because is afraid someone will take them...because they are so awesome.Don't buy!! I've bought four of these lights and they all sucked! Each one has a different brightness and the led size is all different, either it's a manufacturing problem or something else, if they can't make them all the same, then why do the make them, please save your money. I wasted $40!These are bad ass防水ではありません。
